William A. (Trey) Harris, III


For over twenty years, Trey Harris has represented corporate clients and individuals in a wide range of complex civil litigation matters. He has extensive experience in the representation of corporate clients in complex commercial disputes, including those involving commercial properties, and business dissolution matters. Mr. Harris also represents various developers, contractors, subcontractors, and individuals in construction litigation and breach of contract actions. He represents clients in other litigation matters including conservatorships and various tort, contract and property disputes.

Mr. Harris assists clients in all aspects of their businesses. Beginning at the formation, he works with the clients to further the business’ success and growth. His services have included representing clients, both as purchasers and sellers, in large mergers and acquisitions.

Mr. Harris is a current Member and Past President of the Board of Directors for Legal Aid of East Tennessee, which awarded him the Equal Access to Justice Award in 2016, a distinction previously bestowed upon Justices of the Tennessee Supreme Court. In September of 2019 he was inducted into the Legal Aid of East Tennessee Hall of Fame, the youngest to ever receive this honor.

Mr. Harris has an AV Preeminent Rating awarded through the Martindale-Hubbell review process. This is the highest potential rating and is held by approximately ten percent of attorneys.

Mr. Harris is a member of the American Bar Association, Tennessee Bar Association and Chattanooga Bar Association. He is a graduate of the Leadership Law program of the Tennessee Bar Association.

Mr. Harris received his B.A. in 1996 from Washington and Lee University. He received his J.D. in 1999 from the University of Tennessee College of Law, where he served on the Tennessee Law Review. Mr. Harris served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Houston M. Goddard, Presiding Judge of the Tennessee Court of Appeals. Mr. Harris is licensed to practice both in Tennessee and Georgia. In addition to state courts, he has been admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee, United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee, United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

Misty L. Harris


Misty L. Harris is a partner with Harris Law Firm, PLLC.  Misty represents clients in a wide range of family law cases in the Circuit, Chancery, and Juvenile Courts.  Misty’s  extensive experience includes the handling of juvenile court litigation where she previously served as a Magistrate in the  Hamilton County Juvenile Court.  Misty was designated as a Rule 31 Listed Family Mediator in 2011 by the Tennessee Supreme Court.  Since that time, she has mediated hundreds of cases.

Misty graduated from the University of Tennessee in May of 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology.  She received her Juris Doctor Degree from the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law in 2004, where she served on the Memphis Law Review.  Prior to attending law school, Misty worked during college as a Deputy Clerk in the Tennessee Court of Appeals for the Eastern Division. She has been married to her husband and law partner, William A. (“Trey”) Harris, III., since 1999 when they moved to Chattanooga.  Misty and Trey opened Harris Law Firm, PLLC. in 2018.  Prior to opening Harris Law Firm, Misty was Of Counsel with Lawrence and Lawrence, PLLC.  

Misty is a member of the Tennessee Bar Association and the Chattanooga Bar Association and is a former two-term member of the Brock-Cooper Inns of Court, where she served as an Associate and then Barrister. Misty is the recipient of the 2020 Chattanooga Bar Association Harry Weill Zealous Practice of Law Award and the 2020 Brock-Cooper Inns of Court Civility Award. On September 15, 2021, Misty was honored to be inducted into the Chattanooga Bar Foundation Fellows Class of 2021.


Misty has previously served on the Chattanooga Wastewater Regulations, and Appeals Board, the Department of Children's Services Absent Parent Committee, and the SAFE Havens Supervised Visitation and Safe Exchange Committee. Misty has been an adjunct professor at the University of Chattanooga, and she has been a guest speaker at various conferences regarding family law, juvenile law, and mediation practice.
